At the end of the 90s, fame began to smile on Lupillo, after the success of his albums: “Puros Corridos Macizos” and “El Toro del Corrido”. This last album, which he released in 2000, as a tribute to his uncle, who was a boxer, caused them to begin calling him: El Toro del Corrido.
He continued working on his music, with his presentations throughout Mexico and in the United States, making his way on their stages. His songs began to occupy the first positions of the Billboard list of popularity in the United States, both within Latin music and in the Mexican regional genre.
Later, he married in second nuptials, on April 29, 2006, with Mayeli Alonso, whom he met in 2003, during a dance in Chihuahua, in northern Mexico. As a result of his marriage to Mayeli, Guadalupe Karisma and Rey Rivera Alonso, aged 14 and 10, respectively, were born.
At the 52nd Grammy Awards, on January 31, 2010, in Los Angeles, Lupillo Rivera surprised everyone by being awarded Best Band Album. And it is that the album “Tu slave y amo” gave great satisfaction to El Toro del Corrido, by placing it in the first places of Mexican regional music.
This catapulted his career even more, which among other things, allowed him in 2015 to have the great opportunity to sing a duet with Juan Gabriel.
In May 2018, Lupillo filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences from his second wife, Mayeli Alonso, after twelve years of marriage. Now he remains single, although he was linked to the artist Belinda, with whom he shares on the Reality Show “La Voz”, but both have said that it is only friendship.
Due to its interpretive strength, El Toro del Corrido has earned a place in popular taste, which its fans appreciate by always being present at its concerts and presentations.
History of Lupillo Rivera
In the mid-1980s, the Rivera Saavedra family moved to Long Beach, California, United States, where Lupillo graduated from high school in 1990. In California, his father, singer Pedro Rivera, got into the music business creating a small record company called: Cintas Acuario Inc.
There, Lupillo worked first as a manager and later as a talent scout. Lupillo had composed his first song when he was 15 years old, due to the death of a friend, with the support of his friend Chalino Sánchez, he decided to record his first album. He had thus started his singing career in 1993, under the name of Lupillo Rivera.
In 1999, Lupillo began to shake the charts in California, with the song “El Moreño”, which led him to sign with Sony Discos. From that moment on, many would be the satisfactions that Lupillo Rivera obtained with his performances, with which he earned the respect of the public.

The love story between Lupillo Rivera and Mayeli Alonso
She was undocumented and together they had children, but all the love ended, why?
Lupillo Rivera and Mayeli Alonso lived a long romance that unfortunately ended between discussions and rumors of infidelity. And, before they had a tough media battle, they were the ideal couple. What happened? Here we tell you.
They met in 2003 when they went to a dance in Chihuahua, in northern Mexico. Jenni Rivera’s brother flirted with her and asked for her number. He was 31 and she was 19.
It was during one of the El Toro del Corrido concerts that they kissed, however, Mayeli did not know that the singer was married. That was the beginning of a long-distance relationship, while Lupillo arranged the divorce from his first wife, María Gurrola. Many pointed to Mayeli as the “home breaker.”
After Mayeli arrived in the United States, they married in April 2006, and in their 12 years of marriage, they had two children, Guadalupe and L’Rey, who are currently 14 and 10 years old. Mayeli began to work alongside her husband and at the same time started her own makeup business, the latter she has always pointed out that the singer did not help her at all.
In May 2018 the fairy tale ended, the singer began the divorce process in Riverside County claiming “irreconcilable differences”, however unofficially it was said that he already had another romance.
The truth is that Lupillo’s family never accepted Mayeli, even he came to distance himself because of this. Although Lupillo said that over time they took him affection, the reality seems to be different. At the end of the divorce, she bought a luxurious and incredible mansion that she showed off on her social networks.
